MEWP Operator Training

Hands-on. Certified. Compliant.

Operating a scissor lift or boom lift safely requires more than just a license. It requires knowledge, practice, and confidence. Our MEWP Operator Training gives your employees the skills they need to perform pre-use inspections, recognize hazards, and operate lifts in compliance with OSHA and ANSI A92 standards.

Led by a Certified MEWP Trainer, our course combines classroom instruction with hands-on evaluation. Operators learn how to set up and maneuver lifts, use fall protection correctly inside platforms, and respond to common hazards like tip-overs. The result: operators who are not only certified but competent, confident, and safe on the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know you may have questions before committing, here are the answers to the ones we hear most often.

OSHA and ANSI require operator training before anyone uses a scissor lift, boom lift, or other MEWP for the first time. Training is also required when:

  • An operator is assigned to a different type of lift they haven’t used before.
  • Workplace conditions change and introduce new hazards.
  • An operator is observed using a lift unsafely or has been involved in an incident.
  • Refresher training is needed to maintain safe and compliant operations.

Retraining is required anytime an operator’s performance or job conditions show that additional instruction is necessary. This includes situations where:

  • An operator is observed operating a lift in an unsafe manner.
  • The operator is involved in an accident or near-miss.
  • Workplace conditions change and introduce new hazards.
  • The operator is assigned to a different type of MEWP they have not been trained on.

While OSHA and ANSI don’t mandate retraining on a fixed schedule, many companies choose to provide refresher training every few years as a best practice.
